Javed Mustafa Mir quits PDP

SRINAGAR, Jan 5: In yet another jolt to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Javed Mustafa Mir, former minister and last time MLA Chadoora today decided to quit the party on personal reasons.

Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Mir said: “I have decided to quit the PDP. I will submit the formal resignation letter to the party leadership tomorrow. But it should be deemed that I have resigned from PDP.”

The former MLA Chadoora who has represented the assembly constituency thrice in the state assembly said that he will share the reasons behind his resignation with the media very soon.

Informed sources said that the Mir is weighing two options—either to join National Conference or Congress. Given the dwindling popularity graph of PDP, Mir is said to be in dilemma about his political career.

“In case he joins National Conference, the senior NC leader Ali Mohammad Dar may again be nominated as MLC in future. Dar is believed to have agreed to that corollary,” a political observer told Kashmir Despatch.

But he added, that in case he joins NC and is assured of a mandate in coming elections from Chadoora assembly constituency, Ali Mohammad Dar may turn a rebel. “In that case there is also a probability that Mir may join Congress.”
