Srinagar, Jan 27 : Train services resumed in the Kashmir valley on Sunday after remaining suspended on Saturday for security reasons, where separatists have called for a general strike, when country celebrated the Republic Day, officials said.
‘We have resumed all train services in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received last night from police’, a senior railway official said.
The trains will run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region and Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir track, he further said.
According to the official, the railway authorities are acting on the advice of local administration and police, keeping in view the safety and security of the passengers, railway staff and property.
The railway property was damaged in the valley, in the past during strikes and demonstrations, he added.
The train service has become very popular in the Kashmir valley as it is being considered cheap, fast and safe against other mode of transport.
