Outside colleges fail to protect Kashmiri students

Srinagar, Apr 30, : In a bid to keep check and balance on the outside colleges and universities which after creating temporary offices here in Kashmir capital Srinagar for the admission of local students and then fail to provide them safe and secure atmosphere, a Kashmir based Union has been set up with a sole motive to take care of the welfare and security of Kashmiri students studying outside state and broad.

While addressing a press conference at Kashmir Press Club, Spokesperson, Jammu Kashmir Carrier Counsellors Association (JKCCA) Muneeb Basit Bhat on Tuesday said that a breakthrough needs the attention of the authorities to keep away the outside colleges which are designing their temporary offices in the State thus ruining the efforts of local venture holders. He said that post Pulwama attack; local Kashmiri students faced the wrath of some miscreants while outside college authorities failed to protect these students. Bhat added that students in Kashmir have lost faith and trust among these colleges which visit Kashmir to mint money from the naïve parents of the students.

“Our basic aim is to safeguard the carriers and life of Kashmiri students who take admissions in outside colleges. The outside colleges show a callous attitude towards the students once they deposit their fee. Those outside colleges which are intending to admit Kashmiri students into the colleges should take KCCA into confidence so that we could make their details public in the interest of local students,” he said.

Chairman KCCA, Ashfaq Zahgeer said it was the responsibility of these outside colleges to protect the Kashmiri students but unfortunately they harassed and even rusticated and expelled many Kashmiri students. “These unfortunate students suffered unnecessarily at the colleges and Universities in Haryana, UP, Dehradun,”

KCCA President Ayaz Ali, Vice President Shabir Ahmed Beigh, General Secretary MM Sharik and others were also present on the occasion.
