3 Hotels among illegal constructions pulled down during SMC demolition drive in Rajbagh, adjoining areas

Srinagar, June 19 : A number of illegal structures in Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Gogji Bagh and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar were demolished on Wednesday by Srinagar Municipal Corporation. A team of Enforcement wing headed by Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, accompanied by Chief Enforcement Officer and the concerned SHO of Rajbagh, carried the drive early morning.

During the drive, all those constructions going on without permission or deviations made in the approved building permission were pulled down, officials said.

Commissioner SMC had made it clear that no construction without permission or any big or small deviation shall be tolerated, the official said. He said that he will personally be conducting ward wise visit to keep a check on constructions. On finding any erring building activity going on, ward officer along with Building Inspector and the concerned Enforcement staff will be hold accountable, the official said.

Municipal Corporation Khurshid Ahmad Sanai told that several structures including three hotels were pulled down. He said three officers including a ward officer, building inspector and enforcement officer were attached.

The commissioner warned against the illegal constructions and said that the drive will continue.

He said that illegal constructions are banned completely and if any violation was noticed, the material along with machinery will be seized and men on work will be dealt with as per law. (GNS)
