Srinagar, Jul 11 : Governor Satya Pal Malik emphatically told the reporters in Srinagar that no doubt security forces are working day and night in the smooth movement and security of Yatra but it is the local Kashmiri who makes the Amarnath Yatra a success.
While reiterating the significance of local Kashmiris in making the annual Amaranth pilgrimage successful Governor Malik said, “Police and civil administration are making wonderful contributions by working day and night but it is the local Kashmiri who actually makes Yatra successful”.
“I have ordered setting up special camps for making available all essentials to Yatrais. People are very happy with the arrangement and I hope it remains the same till the last day of the Yatra”, he further added.
Pertinently, Hajj pilgrimage has coincided with Amarnath Yatra this year and on this Governor Malik said, “The two yatras are going simultaneously. Hajis are leaving for Mecca and Yatris are coming to Amarnath Cave. For these Yatras we have to make necessary arrangements to make both the Yatras smooth and hassle free. In this regard the traffic regulation orders were passed which don’t put blanket ban on public movement.”
When asked about the pendency of hundreds of files in GAD Governor said, “I am making efforts towards the transparency and accountability in the system. I am working in the direction to get an application developed so that the file movement can be easily tracked by public”.
While replying to the question that Vigilance has produced the reports on many corruption cases and why action has not been taken, Governor Malik said, “We are working on that”. (KNS)
