Kanispora residents oppose garbage dump, stages protest

Baramulla, July 12 : Residents of Kanispora village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday staged a protest against the municipal council Baramulla for establishing a garbage dump in the area.

Scores of residents including women flock gathered on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway to highlight the issue.

The protesting residents talking with Kashmir Indepth said that Municipal Council Baramulla had established a garbage dump in Chopan Mohalla at Kanispora Baramulla resulting inconvenience to the people especially school going children.

The protesting residents said that there is no official space where MC can establish a garbage dump, they however appealed to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to intervene into the issue so that residents will get a sign of relief.

The protesting residents while raising slogans against MC Baramulla said that dumping the waste in a residential area has made their life miserable as bad smell is emanating from the waste.

Meanwhile authorities at MC Baramulla when contacted Kashmir Indepth assured that issue will be solved at earliest.
