SHRC asks Govt to register case against patwari

Srinagar, Jul 29 : State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has recommended to state government to register a case against a patwari for his official ‘misconduct’.

Member SHRC, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal while disposing of a complaint titled Bashir Ahmad Khatana R/o Rattanpora, Behnipora, Kupwara, recommended to the government for registration of FIR against Patwari Abdul Rashid Wani and also take action suitably and administratively for his official misconduct by paying only Rs. 50,000/- against the sanctioned ex-gratia relief amount of Rs one lakh

The SHRC observed that these kind of people are “snakes who eat the lawful share of the NOKs of the persons who are victims of the militancy.”

It also recommended to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to extend benefits of SRO-43 in favour of the victim family.
