Exams: Students up to class 8 appear in ‘exams at home’

‘Children to fill their papers at home, submit answer transcripts after a week’

Srinagar, Oct 28 : Due to the prevailing uncertainty, the valley based schools are conducting the easiest exams ever for the students from class 1st to class 8 as students are supposed to fill their answer transcripts at home.

Why majority of schools in Kashmir decided to conduct the exams of students up to class 8 at their respective homes is because of the fact that despite hectic efforts by the government to woo students to their respective schools, students preferred to stay home as parents feared for their safety.

According to wire service—, the majority of private schools based in Srinagar have conducted the annual examination of primary classes by a completely different way which have never ever tried before. As the students up to primary level were instructed to get their answer transcripts done from home just before a week of submission. A viva of students was also conducted at their respective schools.

Accodring to Beenish Khan, a private school teacher based in Srinagar, “The ongoing uneasy calm has left us with no other option to conduct the examination at school, as this is the only option available to us in the present circumstances.”

She told that the decision of conducting the exams in this way was taken by the higher ups of the school after ruling out the mass promotion. She further added, “This type of exam has never been conducted before in valley as the situation compelled us to go for this approach.”

Hilal Ahmad Ganie, a parent said, “The school authorities handed me over some blank answer sheets and question papers as I was asked to get them done by my children at home within a weeks’ time.”

He said that he was completely unaware about such type of exams as he was expecting a usual annual exam for his ward. He further added, “It was much better for the school authorities to go for a mass promotion rather than resorting to this mockery in the name of exams.”  (KNO)
