JAKLI known for offering huge sacrifices: GoC Dhillon

Felicitates 404 new recruits at passing out parade, hails efforts of retired soldier for saving army men caught in Tangdhar avalanche

Srinagar, Dec 07 :  General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) is known for making huge sacrifices for the J&K and rest of the nation. He hailed 404 recruits who passed out from course and became riflemen at JAKLI here.

According to wire service— GoC Dhillon said JAKLI has a great history of valour and courage and that its soliders have always kept the head of nation high. “I congratulate you all for presenting a tremendous drill, well done boys. Today, 404 recruits have become riffle men, I salute these people, their parents, all media men for their support,” the GoC.He said that JAKLI is different from other regiments in the country as it has people from all religions as its part which makes it as a ‘min-India’.

While hailing the Subedar (Rtd) Muhammad Illyas for participating in the rescue operation at Tandghar in Kupwara district where snow avalanche had hit the patrol, the GoC said that “Illyas despite being a retired solider, continued with his spirits and saved one solider and rescued others who were under snow.”  Ilyas has kept the Kashmiriyat alive, said the GoC .
