Sopore couple dies due to suffocation in Srinagar

A pall of gloom descended Hardshiva- Zaingeer area of north Kashmir’s Sopore on Friday when bodies of a young couple, who had died due to suffocation at Friends Colony, HMT, here, reached their home.

Reports said the couple was living at Friends Colony along with their two kids. “A gas heater was on in the room where the couple slept and next day they didn’t wake up till late in the morning. The elder son of the couple who is seven year old received a call from some relative and he narrated the incident to them,” a family member of the victims told KNS.

He said several relatives of the deceased couple rushed to the area and took them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. The slain were identified as Asif Nazir Bhat (38) son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat and Afrooza Begum wife of Asif Nazir Bhat residents of Hardshiva Sopore.

Asif was working as a civil contractor in Srinagar and was living in HMT area since the last couple of years the relative said.

Police have registered a case in this regard and started investigations.(KNS)
