Police arrests 7 drug peddlers across Kashmir Valley

Huge quantity of psychotropic substances recovered

March 03: Police in its recent series of actions against drug dealings in Budgam, Srinagar and Handwara arrested 07 drug peddlers and have recovered huge consignment of psychotropic substances from their possession.

          In Budgam, police party from PS Magam arrested two persons from Mazhama area in drug related offences and recovered 1360 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. They have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir @Hilal Galwan and Arif Mochi @Kuka both residents of Mazhama. Case FIR No. 29/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam. Both the arrested persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

In Srinagar, on specific input officers from PS Shaheed Gunj intercepted four individuals identified as Aman Alaie, Rouf Nazir Wani, Kaiser Ahmad Ganie all residents of Nowgam and Faizan Zahoor Sheikh resident of Mochow Chadoora. During checking officers were able to recover 25 grams of Heroin from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Case FIR No.15/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

In Handwara, officers at a checkpoint established at Batagund Crossing intercepted an individual identified as Mahnaz Ahmad Ganie resident of Shartgund Payeen. Officers during checking recovered 500 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qalamabad where he remains in custody. Case FIR No.10/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qalamabad and further investigation has initiated.

 Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

 Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
