Omar Abdullah likely to be released today

Srinagar March 24 (KINS): After remaining detention for over seven months, former chief minister Omar Abdullah is likely to be released today.

Omar has been booked under the PSA and was detained on August 5 last year when the Centre abrogated Article 370. An official told Kashmir Indepth News Service that government has taken decision to release him today. However there is no decision over releasing of Mehbooba Mufti, he said.

This comes after Supreme Court directives to Centre last week “if you are releasing Omar Abdullah, release him soon or we will hear his sister’s plea against his detention on merit”.
