HC grants govt 2 weeks to consider Sagar’s release

Srinagar, April 16 : The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today granted the administration two more weeks to file a response to the petition, challenging detention orders under Public Safety Act of Ali Muhammad Sagar, General Secretary of National Conference.

A single bench of Justice Sindhu Sharma granted two weeks time on seeking of the same by Senior Additional Advocate General B A Dar. The court, sources told, also sought report regarding its orders to the administration to consider Sagar’s release on “health grounds”.

The application filed by his son stated that Sagar is an old aged person and is suffering from hypertension and orthopaedic complications.

“The applicant (Sagar) has developed a severe cardio vascular ailment during his detention since August 6,” reads the application filed by his counsel Advocate Shuja-ul-Haq. (GNS)
