Swab samples of 3 people who die in J&K, Ladakh yesterday test positive today

Srinagar, June 2 (KINS): Amid surge in coronavirus cases, the swab samples of three people who died in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh yesterday tested positive on Tuesday.

An elderly woman from Khanpora Baramulla who died yesterday tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.

An official told news agency KINS that the elderly woman from Khanpora Baramulla died yesterday.

“The swab sample of the deceased woman was taken yesterday which tested positive today,” the official said.

Few days before one of her relatives also died had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The male patient from Khanpora, Baramulla, was referred from Government Medical College Hospital, Baramulla, with fever, respiratory distress on May 27 to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. The patient died within hours of admission.

Similarly, a young man from Lolab area of Kupwara district also died on Monday. “He was admitted to SMHS Hospital and his swab sample was taken yesterday which tested positive today,” the official said. Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 33 deaths by coronvirus so far.

While the swab sample of a former Union minister P Namgyal returned positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.

Three-time Congress MP from Ladakh, the 83-year-old had died yesterday and is survived by his wife and three daughters. Namgyal had returned from Delhi nearly a fortnight ago.

Widely respected among Buddhists in Ladakh, Namgyal was also an agriculturist, and a social worker, besides having interest in sports and music as well.(KINS)
