BARAMULLA, JUNE 24: To contribute to the welfare measure Social Welfare Department Baramulla today distributed assistive devices among specially abled persons during a distribution camp.
About 180 Hearing aids, 83 Wheelchairs and 50 Tricycles were distributed among the identified beneficiaries of the district besides 13 Motorized Tricycles, provided by the State Rehabilitation Council were also distributed among the beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo was Chief Guest on the occasion where as Executive Director State Rehabilitation Council Ishfaq Ahmad Wani was the Guest of Honour at the event.
The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion hailed the efforts of the social welfare department towards socio economic welfare of different sections of the society.
He said that the specially abled persons constitute an important organ of our society and administration is committed to ensure their rehabilitation, moreover, he said that the distribution of special assistive devices among beneficiaries is a step forward to ensure their sustainable and independent livelihood.
The Executive Director, in his address, enlisted various welfare schemes and said that such programmes are being organised to ensure the empowerment of specially abled persons.
Chief Agriculture Officer, various district and sectoral officers among other functionaries were present on the occasion.
