Marathon Run under ‘Run4India’ Flagged off in Bla


Srinagar, Sep 07 (KINS): With an aim to relieve youth of anxiety, depression and other complications due to emerging COVID-19 situation, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today flagged off a marathon run here from Akbar Chowk to DC Office Baramulla.


The marathon was organized by District Youth Services and Sports Baramulla under ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ initiative of nationwide ‘Run4India’ programme launched by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.


The DC himself participated in the marathon besides other stakeholders viz students, volunteers and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, DC complimented the participants and said that such events help to inculcate positivity and optimism among the youth.


He highlighted the importance of fitness and said that only a fit person can contribute towards the well being and development of the society.
He also termed such activities necessary for relieving our youth from negativity and pessimistic thoughts developed due to the present COVID-19 situation.(KINS)
