Legal Metrology Department Penalizes importer of Computer Accessories Company

Srinagar, Sep 22 (KINS): Legal Metrology department Tuesday said that during a routine inspection of a reputed computer show-room in the city Srinagar, it seized a number of accessories.
In a statement issued to news agency KINS the department said that it seized the accessories like Hard-drive, toner, RAM’S, Pen-drive, VGA cables for not carrying mandatory declaration like MRP, Name of Importer, Month and year of import, MRP etc. as is required to be printed on the label of the imported packs as per Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.
“The Legal Notices were issued to all the offending firms (Importers) and one of the Importer of computer accessories confessed its lapse and pleaded for compounding the offence departmentally. The company has three Directors and a penal sum of Rs. 1.00 lac has been slapped as compounding fee for the offence. The consumers are informed to check all the mandatory declarations on the imported products. In case of any complaint, the office may be contacted on the Phone No. 0194-2490390 during office hours,” the statement said.(KINS)
