Advisor Baseer Khan inaugurates ‘Peer Nag’ at Nowgam: An old spring renovated and redeveloped by RDD


ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 2: On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Advisor to Lt. Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today kickstarted Back to village Edition 3rd at Nowgam Shangus in District Anantnag which was attended by DDC Anantnag K. K Sidha, SSP Anantnag Sandeep Choudhary and other dignitaries.
Advisor held a public darbar at Govt HSS Nowgam and met many delegations from local area besides inaugurated a beautiful spring in the vicinity. Due to its topography consisting mostly of Karewas the area is water scarce. Therefore the primary demand of local people is water for both drinking and irrigation purpose.
The spring that was inaugurated today by worthy Advisor is an old spring known by name ‘Peer Nag’ which was recently renovated and re-developed by Rural Dev. Dept Block Shangus. The spring was in dilapidated condition from last 3 decades. In order to a dress the drinking water scarcity it was renovated and thrown open for public use for which local populace thanked the administration.
While enquiring about the spring from the prominent and elderly citizens of the area, it came to fore that some Sufi saint (Tahi Sab-e- Rafiqi) who was a disciple of Hazrat Hamza Makdoom Sahib Kashmiri (RA), a great spiritual saint, has stayed here for many years whose shrine is situated nearby.
The elderly told that the local people used to get water from spring some 3 decades ago and later it dried up completely. When the spring was taken up for renovation by RDD the people of local area prayed at the Shrine of Sufi Saint for getting back water. Finally their wishes came true, they rejoiced to see water coming out from the spring which is a source of drinking water for four adjacent Mohallas of the area.
Today while the spring was being inaugurated and opened for public use the people of the area gave their blessings to Advisor, Worthy Deputy Commissioner and all other officials who were involved in the renovation of spring.
