Jammu Feb 24 (KINS): A 10 days training programme is being organised on silk rearing by STSC, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India at Govt. Silk Factory, JKI, Bari Bharmana, Jammu for the workforce of the unit under CSS-CBT programme .
The programme was inaugurated by Sanjay Handoo, Managing Director, JKI on Wednesday. In his inaugural address MD, JKI impressed upon the participants to take full advantage of the training programme to enhance their skill in the reeling field for qualitative and quantity improvement of raw silk produce in the silk factory.
He appreciated the conduct of such programmes by Central Silk Board and desired such programmes need to be held at silk factory, JKI, Srinagar also.
He said that the silk reeling unit/ weaving factories both at Jammu and Srinagar units of JKI have been established under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, M.K .Dwivedi under world bank funded project/ state CAPEX budget for revival of age old silk industry in J&K
“In the present pandemic (Covid-19) situation, the intervention of J&K, Govt. through JKI was made possible by the personal intervention/ instruction of M.K.Dwivedi to safe guard the interest/ livelihood of the cocoon growers,” he said.
Surinder Bhat, Scientist-D & Zonal Officer, STSC, CSB, Jammu explained the importance of adopting improved package of practices in silk reeling technology necessary for production of gradable raw silk. He informed that the technical experts of STSC, CSB, Jammu will thoroughly explained and demonstrate the improved package of practices in silk reeling technologies during the 10 days training programme.
Dr. Sardar Singh, Director (I/C), CSR&TI, Pampore and Scientist-D, RSRS, CSB, Jammu informed that the quality of cocoons in J&K have improved to a great extent with the introduction of improved silk worm hybrids by CSB. He appreciated the role of J&K industries in purchasing of the cocoons from the farmers at different cocoon markets organised by SDD.
The technical experts in silk reeling/ post cocoon technology of STSC,CSB, Jammu and the officers / officials of silk factory JKI, Bari Bharmana also participated in the inaugural function of the training programme. (KINS)
