Anantnag March 16 (KINS): Two shops have been sealed in South Kashmir’s Anantnag after their owners were found using unpermitted synthetic dye in food items.
An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS)that on specific information, a team headed by District Food Safety officer Anantnag raided the premises of Abdul Hamid Ganie near Industrial Estate Anchidora and Suhail Ahmad Ganie at Chee Anantnag, who are dealing with the manufacturing of different kinds of snacks.
“Both the units have been put under seal after completion of all legal formalities as the unit holders were found using unpermitted synthetic dye and sindoor which can act as a potent threat to human health,” the official said.
The official said the food business operators were carrying out business without a valid licence under FSSA 2006.
“Moreover 600 kgs of the suspected food commodities were seized and legal samples were procured for analysis,” the official added.
District Food Safety Officer Anantnag Sheikh Zameer said they were using synthetic dye which is used in colours clothes. “We have sealed shops and sent samples to laboratory for testing. There is strict punishment for those who indulge such things,” Zameer told news agency KINS.
He said there are directions from Commissioner Food Safety to take strict action against such people who are involved in such things. (KINS)
