Kashmir province chess championship concludes


Srinagar March 16 (KINS): Kashmir province Chess Championship 2020-21 organized by All J&K Chess Association under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council concluded at TRC Dalgate.
The organizers in a statement to news agency KINS said about 90 players both boys and girls participated from all districts of Kashmir valley. The winners were awarded by prizes and certificates.
Khalid Ahmad Baba secured 1st position and was overall champion. Mohammad Saleem, Rashid Bashir Shah, Imitiyaz Ahmad Lone, Mohammad Sharief, Jaasim Rashid bagged 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th positions, respectively.
In girls’ senior category, Injeela Amin, Minsha Farooq and Kharul Nisa bagged first three top positions, respectively.
In girls U-11 category, Zainab Amir, Arooj Qureshi  and Areeba Shabir secured first three positions.
Abdul Rashid Wani was chief Arbiter, while as Burhan Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad were assistant arbiters of the whole event and Khalid Amin Gojawari was FIDE Instructor.
1st to 10 position holders will participate in State Chess Championship 2020-21 being held at Jammu from March 19-23.
Players hope under ages of J&K State Sports Council, All J&K Chess Association will organize such events also in future.  (KINS)
