Anantnag April 05(KINS): Training College at Kokernag fisheries farm has been closed for two weeks after two trainees were found positive for COVID-19.
An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that one trainee was found positive on March 26. After which a medical team collected samples of all employees and trainees, who were found negative but two were suffering from typhoid. However, later another trainee from Kuthua district tested positive.
“There are only two rooms for 18 trainees with one kitchen. All these rooms are packed with trainees with no space left,” one of the trainees told news agency KINS.
Principal fisheries training college Kokernag Ataullah said he was on leave.
Sources said Principal rarely remains available at the college.
While, Chief Project Officer (CPO) Kokernag fisheries farm Muzaffar Bazaaz has been assigned additional charge of principal training college. “We have sanitised the training college and closed it for two weeks as a precautionary measures,” Bazaaz told news agency KINS.
Known for its natural beauty, Kashmir has the distinction of having Asia’s largest trout fisheries farm in Kokernag Anantnag. Spread over 20 hectares, the farm was set up in 1985 with support from the European Economic Committee. (KINS)
