Contempt charges for not utilizing services of college contractuals: HC seeks personal appearance of Director College J&K

Srinagar April 10 (KINS): The High Court has sought personal appearance of Director Colleges Jammu and Kashmir for not utilizing the services of college contractual.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while dealing with a contempt petition filed by college contractual seeking implementation of court orders said Director Colleges Pirzada Mohammad Yusuf shall appear before the court on April 12 and ensure that college contractuals are not stopped from entering the college premises.
The college contractuals of Kashmir province had filed a petition that they are not being allowed to dispense their duties despite the clear directions from the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
A spokesperson of the college contractual association said they were working on academic arrangement basis in different colleges of J&K.
“We have given our best in all the ways still in return we are on the verge of begging and our families are at the verge of starvation.  If it continues like this it will affect and will definitely have its repercussions as 2300 people will be forced to take any untoward step. Education quality has been affected to the extent that students in colleges are without teachers but the authorities are playing mute spectators,” the spokesperson told news agency Kashmir Indepth News service (KINS).
“Our brothers and sisters are without salaries since August 2019, which highlights the gross violation of court orders. Why is the higher education department not obeying the court orders?” the spokesperson asked.
They said authorities in higher education have completely sabotaged the minds of highly qualified youth of J&K.
“We are still waiting since February 2021 that our services be utilized as director colleges has given a written affidavit that the status quo is maintained and our services will be utilized,” they said.
“Even they need staff in colleges, they are not utilizing our services and in this way, students have suffered a lot,” the spokesperson said.
They have also requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Advisor Higher Education Department to look into the matter. (KINS)
