Vendors to obtain license for sale of Tobacco products at Kulgam


Kulgam April 15 (KINS): The Vendors in Kulgam shall be allowed to carry out the sale of tobacco products only after obtaining a license.
This was revealed during a District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat for effective implementation of COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act)-2003.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the vendors have to get license for sale of Tobacco products in Kulgam and a smart portal will be developed for the purpose.
Earlier, during the meeting a powerpoint presentation highlighting the role and responsibilities of various departments/Stakeholders in tobacco control was also presented.
On the occasion DC exhorted upon the concerned stakeholders to implement all the sections of COTPA -2003 in letter and spirit.
He also directed Principal Degree college Kulgam, CMO, CEO to   organize a week long sensitisation campaign from 26th of this month.
ADC Kulgam was also nominated as Nodal officer in the district for effective implementation of COTPA-2003.
Others who attended the meeting include ADC, Principal Degree College Kulgam, CEO, DHO, DSP-HQ, EO besides State Programme Coordinator Tobacco Control, Divisional Coordinator DHSK and other concerned officers. (KINS)
