Labour Commissioner releases Rs 1.6 cr welfare assistance for registered construction workers

Srinagar June 14 (KINS): Labour Commissioner, Abdul Rashid War, today released an amount of Rs.1,06,99600/ as welfare assistance for 1,514 registered construction workers of Srinagar district under J&K Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Act.
On the occasion, Labour Commissioner said that the sole aim of this welfare assistance is to help these workers in providing education to their children especially in challenging times of Covid pandemic. He lauded the role of department in timely release of assistance to these workers. He also appreciated the officers for launching twitter handle to generate awareness about schemes and programmes of the department for socio-economic empowerment of construction workers.
Labour Commissioner impressed upon the officers to work with zeal and enthusiasm ensuring that the benefits reach to the grassroots level workers. He asked them to make sure that all eligible construction workers are registered with the Board to avail its benefits. He also asked the officers to sensitize the general public about their schemes through awareness camps on regular basis.
Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), Abdul Star, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Kashmir Division, Assistant Labour Commissioner Srinagar besides other officers were present. (KINS)
