Victory flame, India’s triumph over Pak reaches, Turtuk in Ladakh

Leh, Aug 4 (KINS ) “ Victory Flame”, India’s triumph over Pakistani in 1971 war, was given a grand reception with people, including children, performing traditional Balti Dances, at border area of Turtuk and Tyakshi in Ladakh region on Wednesday.

Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame, commemorating 50 years of the Indian Armed Forces’ victory over Pakistan in the 1971 reached the frozen frontiers of Siachen Glacier on Tuesday.

Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Emron Musavi said that the victory flame as part of the celebrations soldiers, veterans, locals and school children of Turtuk and Tyakshi villages received the Swarnim Vijay Victory Flame with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Victory Flame was given a grand cultural reception with school children performing traditional Balti Dances.

The events also included Guard of Honor to the Victory Flame and Wreath Laying Ceremony. The villages of Turtuk an Tyakshi have great historic significance since they were liberated from illegal Pakistani occupation during 1971 War. The area has since witnessed rapid economic and social growth and emerged as a top tourist destination of Ladakh. ( SOURCE  UNI  )
