CSIR-CRRI launches platinum jubilee celebrations; Jammu among 16 cities for indigenous road technologies

Srinagar, July 16 (KINS): The CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) on Thursday launched its year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations by rolling out the first phase of indigenous road infrastructure technologies across 16 locations nationwide, including Jammu.

The celebrations were inaugurated by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who called for stronger collaboration between scientific institutions, industry and state governments to accelerate the adoption of home-grown technologies in road infrastructure.

During the event, the Minister unveiled the CSIR-CRRI Platinum Jubilee logo, launched advanced road technologies, including an AI-enabled Network Survey Vehicle and an indigenous road maintenance system, and released the Institute’s Annual Report 2025-26.

Dr. Singh said indigenous innovations such as steel slag roads, bio-bitumen and sustainable pavement technologies will help strengthen infrastructure while supporting the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, waste-to-wealth and the circular economy. He stressed that proven technologies should move beyond pilot projects and be adopted on a larger scale across the country.

The event also witnessed the commercialisation of several indigenous technologies through technology transfer agreements and MoUs with industry partners, reaffirming CSIR-CRRI’s commitment to sustainable, climate-resilient and technology-driven transport infrastructure. (KINS)
