Srinagar, July 16 (KINS):The registration and counselling process under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for the 2026-27 academic session has commenced, following the Jammu and Kashmir government’s intervention to facilitate the admission process for eligible students.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has formally initiated the scholarship process for the new academic session. In a communication issued on July 16, 2026, the Higher Education Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government directed the establishment of designated Facilitation Centres and Facilitation-cum-Document Verification Centres across the Union Territory to ensure smooth implementation of the scheme.
The initiative aims to assist eligible students from Jammu and Kashmir in completing the registration, document verification and counselling process for admission to colleges and higher educational institutions across the country.
According to the AICTE notification, the online registration and counselling portal opened on July 16, 2026, at 12 noon. Eligible students who have passed the Class 12 examination can now register online and participate in the counselling process under the PMSSS for admission to approved institutions across India.
Officials said the timely activation of the registration process will enable students to secure admissions without delay and avail themselves of the benefits offered under the scholarship scheme.(KINS)
