Srinagar, Aug 05 (KINS): The Bhartiya Janata party Thursday claimed that grand celebrations took place in Jammu and Kashmir on the second anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
Party’s general secretary Ashok Koul told news agency KINS that across the length and breadth of all districts of the UT, people celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
“People were seen hoisting the tricolour and distributing sweets. Our workers unfurled the national flag in their localities following Covid-19 related guidelines and SOPs. Common people at various places also hoisted the tricolour on the rooftops to express their happiness on the second anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and 35A,” Koul maintained.
He maintained that a series of programmes and events were organised as part of the celebrations. “The celebration starts with the hoisting of the tricolour in each and every Mandal, booth, Panchayat, municipal ward and district of J&K,”
Virtual rallies were also held at state and district levels.
On August 5, President Ram Nath Kovind had signed the Constitution (application to Jammu and Kashmir) order, 2019. The order, issued under Article 370(1)(d) of the Constitution paved the way for taking away ‘special status’ granted to Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh came into existence as separate Union Territories on Oct 31, 2019.
Koul further told KINS that Justice, dignity and equality have been delivered in two years. “Since the abrogation of Article 370, the people of J&K have been filled with joy as now there are jobs, packages for the local industry, setting up of global-level medical institutes. Health insurance coverage has been provided to each and every resident of J&K under the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ programme by the Lt Governor’s administration,” he said.
“With the abrogation of controversial Articles, the undue dominance of anti-national forces has been broken. Steps have been taken to eradicate corruption in the Union Territory. All central laws are being implemented in J&K. August 5 is a day of great joy for the people of J&K,” Koul claimed.
“Special prayers were held by the people on the occasion. Later, in the evening ‘deepmala’ was done and prominent areas, buildings were illuminated as part of the celebrations on the occasion of second anniversary of revocation of Article 370 and 35A,” Koul maintained.(KINS)
