ADGP Vijay Kumar Chairs Preparatory Meeting for 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 11: Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police Armed Jammu & Kashmir, chaired a preparatory meeting at the Conference Hall PCR Srinagar to oversee arrangements for the upcoming 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023–24, hosted by the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Back Lawn of SKICC Srinagar, situated at Dal Lake, from March 2nd to 8th, 2024.
During the meeting, Kumar reviewed the arrangements made by various committees to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the championship.
A total of 28 teams from different Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police, including 22 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams, each comprising 30 players, are expected to participate. Over 800 athletes from across the country will showcase their skills in Canoeing, Kayaking, and Rowing.
Key discussions during the meeting centered on seamless organization, safety protocols, and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all participants. Kumar emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and flawless execution of even the smallest details related to the event. He directed the managing staff to ensure proper arrangements for the opening and closing ceremonies, aiming for a grand success.
Responsibilities assigned to various committees, including security, traffic management, transportation, accommodation, and medical facilities, were thoroughly discussed. Special attention was given to the availability of critical care ambulances and the deployment of police personnel for participant safety. Kumar instructed officers to maintain a strict vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents during the championship.
Kuldeep Handoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) APHQ, provided updates on arrangements made by different officers for the smooth conduct of the event.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from Kashmir and Jammu, including IPS officers Bhimsen Tuti, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Sarah Rizvi, Shahid Mehraj, Abdul Qayoom, Rajiv Omprakash Pande, along with other officials and commanders from various battalions and departments.
