LG, Rahul Gandhi, Farooq Abdullah, Sajjad Lone, M Y Tarigami attend wedding party of G A Mir’s son

Srinagar August 10 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, People’s Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone and CPI (M) leader MY Tarigami were among leaders who attended the wedding party of J&K Congress chief G A Mir’s son at Taj Vivanta Srinagar on Monday evening.
Sources told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that Mir had invited Manoj Sinha, Rahul Gandhi, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Sajjad Gani Lone, M Y Tarigami besides several other mainstream leaders, businessmen and bureaucrats for wedding party of his son at Taj Vivanta.
“Only selected leaders were invited. Those attended the wedding exchanged greetings and had dinner together,” one of leaders who attended the function told news agency KINS.
This was for the first time when these leaders joined the function and had meals together.
Rahul Gandhi was on his two days visit to Kashmir on Monday and Tuesday.

He arrived at Srinagar airport at 5 pm on Monday and was received by senior Congress leaders including G A Mir and former union minister Saifuddin Soz.
“After arriving in Srinagar, Rahul Gandhi rushed to Hotel Taj Vivanta and attended the wedding function of Mir’s son. He exchanged greeting to various leaders,” the leader said.
Sources said Rahul Gandhi had come to Kashmir to attend wedding party of Mir’s son, inaugurate newly constructed compound at the party headquarters at MA Road Srinagar.
On Tuesday morning he visited Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district then addressed party leaders and workers at party office in Srinagar in the afternoon.
He also held deliberations with party leaders and workers to get firsthand account of the party activities in Kashmir.
This was first visit of Rahul Gandhi to Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.

Two weeks after the abrogation of Article 370, he had reached Srinagar as part of a delegation of opposition party leaders. However, the delegation was not allowed to visit Kashmir and was sent back from Srinagar Airport. (KINS)
