DDC Anantnag chairs Stamp duty rate revision meeting

ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 22 ( KINS): The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting with SDMs of Doru, Pahalgam, Bijbehara, Kokernag to discuss the revision of stamp duties in specific areas and removal of anomalies at Tehsil levels.

The DDC stressed upon the sub registrars to get the feedback from the patwaris for removal of rate discrepancies in Tehsils.

While discussing the prevailing land rates and differences in stamp duty, the DDC said that the basic objective of the meeting is to lay forth the considerations in revision of stamp duty rates. He directed the concerned to ensure that the new rates shall be sensitive to generation of government revenue and place a balance and check in sale purchase deeds.

He further said that with increased development activity, certain areas are witnessing an increase in sale and purchase deeds to cater to construction activities in these areas. He laid emphasis on town planning to ensure provision of public amenities.

The DDC directed that a report in this regard be also prepared so that any necessary interventions can be made.

The meeting was attended by sub registrars from all sub divisions and other senior officials.( KINS)
