Mankotia seeks 8 assembly seats to Jammu region out of 24 reserved seats for PoK

UDHAMPUR, Dec 21 ( KINS) : Reiterating the demand 08 assembly seats to Jammu region out of 24 reserved seats for PoK, Former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia demanded that 24 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly should be reserved for PoK refugees, as one-fourth of their population is settled in Jammu since 1947, so less for them.  At least eight seats should be kept in this demarcation commission. This was stated by Mankotia in press conference.

Mankotia told that the meeting held by the de-limitation commission in Delhi with the MPs of Jammu and Kashmir and the commission told that it was decided to increase seven assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, Information has been given to increase it to 6 in Jammu and one in Kashmir, which is a commendable effort.

Although by 31st, whoever wants can file the objection, but the objection file will be there when the commission will bring the complete draft in the public domain, in which panchayat or block has been brought in which assembly constituency, but till now, people have no information about it, he added

Mankotia asked the De-limitation Commission team that the draft should be brought in the public domain as soon as possible so that people can get information about which panchayat or block has been brought in which area so that they can file the objection, Mankotia said till date commissions were also formed and reports were implemented. Reports were always in favour of Jammu but whenever it was implemented the people of Jammu did not get their share. Mankotia said that this is the first time that Jammu division is getting six out of seven seats.  But despite that, Jammu did not get an equal share because the area and population of Jammu division is more and despite getting 6 seats, there are  47 seats in Kashmir and only 43 seats in Jammu.

Mankotia said that 24 seats which are reserved for PoK, one fourth of the people of PoK lives in Jammu, He demanded from the De-limitation Commission that 8 seats of PoK should be given to Jammu division, so that the people of PoK can have the right to choose their representative.( KINS)
