Srinagar, Jan 14: Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R R. Swain, interacted with officers and Jawans during the Bara Khana at District Police Lines Kupwara, underscoring the need for excellent police services, accountability, transparency, and a commitment to providing justice to the public.
The event, attended by distinguished officers including DIG North Kashmir Range, Vivek Gupta, and SSPs from various regions, saw the DGP highlighting the significant responsibilities of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in maintaining public safety, law and order, and delivering exemplary policing services.
Addressing the audience, DGP Swain emphasized the critical role of police officers in ensuring justice for individuals facing challenges, urging a strong commitment to working closely with the public. He stressed the importance of acting within the boundaries of the law and upholding principles of justice and fairness.
Acknowledging the diverse responsibilities of the J&K Police, the DGP urged officers to work tirelessly in protecting citizens against violence, crime, and other illicit activities, ensuring fair and equal application of the law.
The DGP also directed the identification of officials contributing significantly to better service and justice, promising acknowledgment and rewards for their efforts.
Listening to grievances and requests from police personnel, the DGP emphasized timely redressal. In a welcome address,
IGP Kashmir Zone V. K. Birdi expressed gratitude to all officers and Jawans, highlighting the DGP’s keen interest in visiting Kupwara to address citizen concerns and interact with jurisdictional officers and Jawans.
IGP Kashmir commended J&K Police personnel as cutting-edge law enforcement, acknowledging their dedicated work in challenging conditions, including harsh winters and internal security issues. He emphasized the pivotal role of subordinate staff, praising their resilience and commitment to facing every challenge with fortitude.
