Srinagar, Jan 20: Baramulla District has clinched the top spot among the Aspirational Districts in the country, according to the latest report by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) under the Aspirational Districts Programme.
The district excelled particularly in the key thematic area of “Basic Infrastructure” for the month of September 2023.
In recognition of this achievement, the district has been granted an additional funding of Rs. 3 crore by NITI Aayog. The funds are earmarked for developmental initiatives across the five established thematic areas: Education, Health & Nutrition, Financial Inclusion & Skill Development, Basic Infrastructure, and Agricultural and Water Resources.
Vennecaganti Radha, IAS, Additional Secretary of NITI Aayog, extended congratulations and appreciation to the District Team and Central Prabhari Officers for their outstanding performance in executing the program.
Expressing gratitude, the District Administration of Baramulla thanked Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo for their unwavering support in achieving this significant milestone. The Baramulla team is committed to surpassing previous achievements and striving for excellence in indicators that contribute to the development and upliftment of the people.
The Aspirational Districts Programme, initiated in January 2018, aims to rapidly enhance the socio-economic status of 115 districts by focusing on improvements in five thematic areas: Health and Nutrition, Agriculture and Water Resources, Education, Financial Inclusion, Skill Development, and Basic Infrastructure. Baramulla, initially among the least improved districts, has undergone a remarkable transformation, now standing as one of the most improved districts in the country across all five thematic areas.
