January 29: In its relentless drive against drug trafficking, the police in Anantnag apprehended two drug peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the Srigufwara Police Station received information about two brothers, Peer Asif Rashid and Peer Tawseef Rashid, residents of K-Klan Srigufwara, who were allegedly involved in drug peddling and had stockpiled narcotics in their residence. Consequently, a case was registered under pertinent sections of the law, and an investigation was initiated.
In response, a police team accompanied by the relevant Executive Magistrate conducted a raid on the suspects’ house. The search yielded approximately 09 kilograms of graded Cannabis leaves and 12 bottles of codeine phosphate, all of which were confiscated on the spot. The accused were promptly arrested, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
Authorities urge community members to report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling in their neighborhoods. Perpetrators caught engaging in such illicit activities will face legal consequences. The consistent efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating drug peddlers reflect their commitment to safeguarding society against the pernicious effects of the drug menace.
