Srinagar, Apr 04:Department of Drug and Food Control organisation, specifically its food safety wing, conducted an extensive inspection in Srinagar city under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety for Kashmir, Shagufa Jalal. Assisted by Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety for Srinagar, Yameen ul Nabi, and Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety ICLC, Hilal Ahmad Mir, the team took decisive actions to ensure public health and safety.
During the inspection, one food establishment was sealed due to violations of food safety standards. Additionally, the team discovered expired food items and food stored in unsanitary conditions, prompting immediate disposal on the spot.
Furthermore, the inspection included the examination of fast food items using a mobile food testing laboratory. As a result, some ready-to-eat food items were found to be improperly stored and were consequently destroyed.
“All food establishments in the area have been issued directives to maintain high standards of sanitation and hygiene within their premises to prevent future violations.
This rigorous inspection drive is not confined to Srinagar alone but will extend throughout the Kashmir valley, ensuring the continued safety of food products and the well-being of consumers”.
