Historic Recognition: Five Shaurya Chakras Awarded to JK Police Officers

Srinagar, July 06: In a historic first for the Jammu and Kashmir Police, five officers and personnel were honored with the Shaurya Chakra today, acknowledging their extraordinary courage and bravery in service to the nation.
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, bestowed the Shaurya Chakra upon SgCt. Saif Ullah Qadri (posthumously), DySP (now SP) Mohan Lal, SI Amit Raina, SI Feroz Ahmed, and Ct Varun Singh at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Additionally, VDC member Shri Parshotam Kumar of Rajouri was also honored with the Shaurya Chakra.
Lauding their valor, DGP J&K Shri Swain congratulated the recipients and their families. He stated that these brave officers have brought honor and glory to the JKP with their dedication and service, which has now been recognized at the highest level. This recognition underscores the exemplary commitment of one of the finest police forces in the country, he added.
The DGP expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh, and officials of the Ministry of Defence, the Central Government, and the UT Government for acknowledging the valor and sacrifices of the J&K Police. He also extended thanks to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their unwavering support.
The Ministry of Defence had announced the Shaurya Chakras for these bravehearts on Independence Day 2023 and Republic Day 2024.
