Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi rebuts news claiming Mutahida Ulama e Ahle Sunnat called for cleaning of Khanqah
Srinagar, July 22 (KINS): Abdul Rashid Dawoodi has rebutted a news item carried in a local newspaper which claimed that Mutahida Ulama e Ahle Sunnat was led by Dawoodi and that the religious body had called for the cleaning of the Khanqah-e-Moula.
The controversy started after a group of youth recited Nouha (mourning) inside the famous Khanqah-e-Moula last week, prompting statements from both Shia and Sunni religious leaders. A local newspaper reported that the Dawoodi-led Mutahida Ulama e Ahle Sunnat had called for the cleaning of the Khanqah-e-Moula.
“I want to make it clear that I am not the head of Mutahida Ulama e Ahle Sunnat and am only a part of it. Besides, we rebut the news item that Mutahida Ulama e Ahle Sunnat has called for the cleaning of the Khanqah-e-Moula. We don’t know who issued this statement. We stand for the unity and peace,” Dawoodi said.
