Srinagar, August 14: A critical stretch of road between Bemina Bypass and Bemina Crossing is marred by severe potholes, leading to significant disruptions in traffic flow and widespread commuter frustration.
The deteriorating condition of this essential route has sparked growing concern due to frequent traffic jams and the potential for vehicle damage.
Asim Shabir, a local scooter rider, expressed his frustration: “The potholes on this road are enormous and extremely troublesome for riders like me. Navigating them is not only inconvenient but also hazardous. I am constantly worried about damaging my scooter or getting into an accident.”
The road’s poor condition has progressively worsened, contributing to regular congestion and significant wear and tear on vehicles, particularly affecting two-wheelers. The road’s importance as a major commuter route has only intensified the issues faced by daily travelers.
Although recent government initiatives have focused on road macadamization projects across the region, this specific stretch appears to have been neglected. Residents and commuters are now urging higher authorities to intervene.
Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident, emphasized the urgency: “While we acknowledge the government’s efforts on other roads, this stretch seems to have been overlooked. The damage to vehicles and the constant traffic jams are becoming unbearable. We urge LG Manoj Sinha and the Chief Secretary to take immediate action to address this problem and speed up the macadamization process.”
The local community is hopeful that their appeal will prompt the authorities to prioritize repairs and enhance the road conditions, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for everyone.
