Congress Kicks Off Campaign for JK Assembly Elections

Srinagar, Aug 17: Alka Lamba, President of the All India Mahila Congress, hailed the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls as a triumph of democracy and a long-awaited victory for the people of the region. In a statement marking the start of the Congress party’s campaign, Lamba expressed optimism about the restoration of electoral processes in the Union Territory.
“This is a victory of democracy. It is a victory for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Lamba said. “After years of waiting, democracy is being reinstated here. The people will finally have the opportunity to elect their representatives and form a government that truly reflects their aspirations.”
Lamba announced that key Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir in September to lead the campaign efforts. Their involvement underscores the party’s commitment to connecting with voters and addressing the pressing issues in the region.
The Congress campaign, according to Lamba, will focus on critical challenges such as unemployment, inflation, and poverty. “Mahila Congress has begun its campaign today,” she said. “We are dedicated to highlighting the issues that matter most to the people, and we are confident that our message will resonate.”
When asked about the party’s chances in the upcoming elections, Lamba expressed confidence. “We are hopeful of forming the government with a full majority,” she stated.
Regarding potential alliances, Lamba noted that discussions are underway, with the party leadership expected to make a decision soon.
Addressing the recent change in leadership within the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, Lamba clarified, “The decision was taken after thorough deliberation between the top leadership in New Delhi and the leaders from the Union Territory.”
As the Congress begins its campaign in earnest, the stage is set for a vibrant and competitive election season in Jammu and Kashmir, with the promise of democracy taking center stage once again.
