Police arrest drug peddler in Budgam; ‘Contraband & cash recovered’

Srinagar, Sep 17 (KINS): On September 17, in its ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in society, the Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and seized contraband substances along with cash from his possession.
The arrest was made during a routine check by a police party from PP Humhama. The suspect, carrying a nylon bag, attempted to flee upon spotting the police but was tactfully apprehended. He has been identified as Rayees Ahmed Mir, a resident of Mohanpora Narkara. A search of his belongings revealed two sticks of charas weighing approximately 58 grams, a mobile phone, and cash.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 376/2024 at Police Station Budgam, and an investigation is underway. Authorities urge the public to report any information related to drug peddling in their neighborhoods.(KINS)
