ACB arrests patwari for demanding & accepting ₹50,000 bribe in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 21 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested , Patwari Halqa Mujagund, Srinagar, after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.

News agency KINS reported that the arrest followed a written complaint, where the complainant alleged that Patwari had demanded ₹1 lakh as a bribe to facilitate the registration of a 2-kanal land purchase and provide revenue extracts.

Following negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹50,000 as an initial payment, with the remaining ₹50,000 to be paid after the task was completed.

The complainant, unwilling to comply with the bribe demand, approached the ACB for legal action.

Upon receiving the complaint, a discreet verification confirmed the demand, and a case was registered under FIR No. 22/2024, U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

A trap team was formed, and Qayoom, a resident of Sector-C, Gulberg Colony, Hyderpora, Srinagar, was apprehended while accepting the ₹50,000 bribe. Following standard legal procedures, he was taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.(KINS
