Two drug peddlers held with psychotropic substance in Srinagar: Police
Srinagar, Dec 03 (KINS): Police on Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar, and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that a police party of Police Post Banamohallah at a checkpoint established at Babdamb road near Stadium intercepted a vehicle (Venue) bearing registration number UP16CN-8991, coming from Barbarshah towards Babdamb, with two persons on board. During the search of the vehicle, 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered.
Both the accused have been identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Ramzan Dar, resident of Dar Mohallah, Old Barzulla, Sanat Nagar and Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Late Bashir Ahmad Dar, resident of Tengpora Srinagar. They have been arrested and vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized, the spokesperson said.
He added that accordingly a case vide FIR No. 50/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station and further investigation has been taken up.The police requested general public to cooperate in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, and assured the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.(KINS)
