Food Safety Dept conducts inspection drive on Nanwaei in Srinagar

Srinagar Dec 11 (KINS): The Food Safety Department, under the Drug and Food Control Organization, carried out an intensive inspection and sampling drive on Nanwaei (Kashmiri roti makers) in Srinagar city on Wednesday.

The initiative aimed to ensure adherence to sanitary hygiene and quality standards for the roti sold to consumers.

During the inspection, several Nanwaei were found violating hygiene standards, leading to the imposition of penalties under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act. Samples of Maida and prepared dough were collected for further analytical evaluation to verify compliance with quality norms.

Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, Yameen ul Nabi, stated that the department would continue such drives across the city to ensure public health safety. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found violating sanitary and hygiene standards,” he told news agency KINS. (KINS)
