Srinagar, Dec 14 (KINS): The 4th National Lok Adalat of 2024 was held across all District Courts in Kashmir on Saturday, in line with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) calendar and under the guidance of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority. The event aimed to facilitate the amicable settlement of various types of cases, offering an alternative dispute resolution mechanism to ease the burden on the regular court system.
The Lok Adalat was conducted under the leadership of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, who also serves as the Patron-in-Chief and Executive Chairman of the J&K Legal Services Authority, along with Justice Atul Sreedharan, Executive Chairman of the J&K Legal Services Authority.
The matters addressed during the event included a range of civil, criminal compoundable, cheque bounce, bank-related cases, motor accident claims (MACT), land compensation, matrimonial disputes, electricity matters, and pre-litigation issues. In addition, pre-litigation matters were resolved, covering topics such as PDD matters, bank recovery, PHE cases, social welfare schemes, labor disputes, revenue issues, land disputes, BSNL cases, municipal cases, and other government-related matters.(KINS)
