Srinagar, Jan 25 (KINS): The 15th National Voters’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, today. The event was presided over by Mr. Suhail ul Islam, JKAS, Secretary, SMC, and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for the 23-Channapora Assembly Constituency. The celebration aimed to raise awareness about the importance of voting and the role of youth in strengthening democracy.
Distinguished guests included Mr. Kifayat Ali, Tehsildar Channapora, and Mr. Aabid Gani, Tehsildar, Recovery, Srinagar, who were invited as Guests of Honour. During the event, new voters were handed their Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC), marking a significant step towards their participation in the democratic process.
The program also saw the felicitation of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other officials for their exemplary performance in voter registration and awareness campaigns. Students from Amar Singh College delivered insightful speeches on the importance of voting and the role of youth in promoting democratic values. Their speeches emphasized the power of the young electorate in shaping the nation’s future.
The event was organized under the aegis of the District Election Office, Srinagar, and the stage was managed by Mr. Shahid Issrar Ali, Assistant Secretary General, SMC. The celebration reinforced the message that voting is not just a right, but also a responsibility in building a stronger democracy.
