New Delhi, Feb 11 (KINS) Engineer Rashid, an incarcerated Member of Parliament from North Kashmir, has called for a time-bound investigation into the recent deaths of two individuals in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding strict action against those responsible.
Speaking in Parliament during a two-day parole, Rashid expressed deep concern over the killings of truck driver Waseem Mir from Baramulla and Makanu Din from Kathua. He called on the government to ensure justice for the victims, stating that Kashmiris deserve to live with dignity and that their blood should not be treated as expendable.
In addition to seeking justice, Rashid highlighted the longstanding need for better connectivity in remote areas of North Kashmir.
He specifically called for the construction of a tunnel to provide year-round access to Machil, Keran, and Karnah, which are often cut off during harsh winters. Rashid argued that improved infrastructure would enhance the quality of life for residents by ensuring better access to transportation, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
Rashid, an independent MP from Baramulla, has been in jail since 2019 on charges related to terror funding. Despite his incarceration, he was granted parole to participate in parliamentary proceedings, using the opportunity to raise critical issues affecting his constituents.(KINS)
