J&K Police seize 6 Kg of heroin near LoC in Rajouri, kingpin & associates arrested
Rajouri, Feb 14 (KINS): In a major anti-narcotics operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday seized six kilograms of high-grade heroin, valued at over ₹30 crore in the international market, from Sair Bhawani village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The seizure was made based on disclosures by Jaswinder Kumar alias Sonu, the alleged kingpin of the drug racket, who was arrested on February 5. Kumar, a resident of Lamberi, had been absconding for over a year in connection with a narcotics case registered at Nowshera Police Station.
Officials said two more accused, Ashok Kumar and Sanjay Kumar from Sair Bhawani, were arrested during the operation, bringing the total number of arrests to five and the total recovered narcotics to 11.3 kg.
Terming the operation a “significant breakthrough,” a police spokesperson stated that two drug peddlers, Sajan Kumar alias Vicky and Subash Chander, were arrested last year with 5.3 kg of heroin-like substances.
During interrogation, Jaswinder Kumar revealed that he, along with Ashok and Sanjay, was facilitating heroin smuggling from Pakistan-based operatives into India. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the cross-border narcotics network.(KINS)
