Jmu-Sgr highway opens for passenger vehicles
KINS Desk
Srinagar Mar 01 (KINS): The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been opened for passenger vehicles, allowing light motor vehicles (LMVs) to travel in both directions.
An official told news agency KINS that the road was closed following heavy snowfall for two days.
He said the road has been opened now and  commuters have been advised to maintain lane discipline to prevent congestion.
Authorities have also urged passengers to travel during daylight hours and avoid unnecessary stops between Ramban and Banihal due to risk of landslides and shooting stones.
Meanwhile, the movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be permitted later after an assessment of road conditions. (KINS)
